Yes they are angel trumpets aka brugmansia. Brugmansia and Datura are closely related but not the same. Brugmansia grow into large trees and are more of perennials that are easily grown for either seed or cuttings whereas datura are grown from seed and are shorter plants. Both can be poisonous if you chose to eat them just like philodendrons or any other poisonous plant. I have lots of pets and chickens that hang out around my Brugs and no problems at all. Hybridizing plants (starting new ones from crossing the parents via pollination and planting the seed) is my other hobby . Here is a video of some shots from my yard last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bL3eOjmNiU
Here
is one of my hybrids from last year that is a double dark pink.

Beautiful flowers. I particularly like the peach colored ones.

(Didn't particularly care for the music, tho)

Do you let your chickens run in around your flowers?

Do you use Backyard Chicken Manufacturing Company for your fertilizer needs?

I have a small collection of marans eggs building up in the basement, and they still haven't shipped my incubator!

I'm getting frustrated. It should have shipped Thursday by Fedex, so it could have been her at least by Monday. I'm beginning to wonder.....

Don,

I will have to try again tomorrow. I just did a search on ebay and half.com and was not able to find

Morely
Jull
Poultry breeding
OR
Standard of perfection.

I will look some more tomorrow. I just got everyone off to bed and am a little tired.

Mine just came in the mail yesterday from Amazon.com. Published in 1932 Very technical but I will muddle through I am sure.

Found it - -- - Don, this book was written in the 1940's and has not been reprinted since then. .. .
I am not questioning the content. I am sure it is excellent. What I am questioning is how good of shape the book will be in when I get it - - - used - - from someone online. I can just picturing opening up the package and the book falling apart in my hands.

So, my question is - - - do you like any other books that may of been more recently reprinted ? ? ?

CPARTIST - - I will try the interlibrary loan request.

Mine came in very good shape aside from, as you said, being very old. I think Amazon post the condition of each book on line

Thanks for the tip on Sevin dust. I will check out our local Lowes.

I have the solid yellow Brugmansia in bloom right now............So spectacular.!!! Thanks for sharing. I wish I had the solid pink too. Cutting are so easy here. Our weather is not severe at all.

We use the sevin dust too, we were also advised to alternate with something else like dog flea and tick powder so that there isn't resistance built up by the mites, we also provide food grade DE for dust baths.
