Where do you purchase food safe DE? Is that a feed store thing. I know the pool supply place carries DE but I am assuming that is NOT the right stuff.

I have had an extreme day of stress. . . CAN YOU BELIEVE IT --- PINK are you listening ? ? ?

I LOST POWER TODAY !

The babies had no heat lamp and I have 2 chicks piping in the cooler.
We lost power for almost 6 ours today. My temp went down to 80 in the cooler. Humidity stay good

So, the power is back on and the temps are back up.

The chicks are still peeping and want out of their shells. . . .

If they make it through this, they will be my superstars !

Debbi is right, I will mix my with sand to help give it a bit more body and then it doesn't seem so powdery/fine, you can also mix it with cold ash from your fire pit. Our feed mill carries it. Some of the posts I have read talk about the benefits of the birds eating it to help keep the mites off. I guess we will see how it works.

I do use composted chicken manure and rabbit manure along with coffee grounds, leaves and whatever else ends up in the compost pile for all my plants. Do you have a power inverter for your vehicle or a generator? Then you could still plug in your incubator or a small space heater.
