Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Sad day... it's day #24 for my 14: no wiggles, no pips, no chicks. Two were my own from a pullet that's been laying for just over 2 months now. Her eggs are a steady 7 but every one I've cracked open has meat spots so I didn't expect much, just thought I'd try since I had shipped eggs going in anyway.
Don't know what I'm doing wrong, best hatch I've had is 3 from 24 shipped. Using a genesis and watching the humidity close (30% till lock down and 60% from lockdown to hatch) I blame my altitude and the far travel-can't find any BCM breeders in Colorado aside from one with clean legs

okay stickers.. let's see his face... His profile is VERY NICE. FACE SHOT!!! snap snap He is a very good looking roo... I would say finger lickin good but that wouldn't mean I wanted to eat him... I would use him.. Was he hatched from a dark egg???

Same bird a few weeks ago. He is a bit scruffy looking in the 1st picture.

Shipping is very hard on them for sure. Are you letting them take a good long rest before putting them in the bator?
