Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I hatched 4 of my own eggs this past month. They are now 7 weeks old. Three are roos for sure. They are crowing their heads off already

I have a BIG question mark about my one blue chick. She / he was the runt, born 4 days after everyone else. She/ he has the smallest comb (although it is still not small) . . . . So, what say you marans experts - - - Did I hit the grand slam of 4 out of 4 being roos or is the runt a pullet ? ?

Well, mine don't typically turn red in the comb if they're pullets until much, much later....but the boys' combs turn red quite early. SORRY! I hope I'm wrong!

For those that were kind enough to help answer some cuckoo questions for me last week I have a few more with up date pictures of the chicks at a week old now. They are getting wing feathers now and I have two blacks that are not getting any type of pattern. Do I have a couple BCM maybe in the group? They are the two that hatched solid black with no white on the tops of their heads, black legs and beaks. Also updated pictures of my two golds in question. I just wish their was more information in regards to cuckoo's and gold cuckoo's available somewhere...

The one with lots of feathers on the feet I just named dinner . . . I guess the others are gonna get similiar names (i.e. lunch, breakfast, midnight snack )
