CONGRATS!! Now, have your chicks call my chicks to tell them how to do it!

Could be worse Debbi - - - I hatched 4 out of 9 of my own eggs and they were ALL ROOOOoooooos
rant.gif

I betcha the egg I cracked right before lock down was a girl and
I betcha the one that couldn't get out of the shell was a girl too! These two chicks didn't make it
sad.png

I am sure NATURE didn't seriously think we needed more males than females

The girls haven't been doing any more laying since these little ones hatched . . . . .
So, I cannot even try again.

I wanna do it again

Lisa ~ I'm hoping for at least one nice Blue Copper boy, the rest will HAVE to be girls! I can tell the rowdy rocking egg is a roo already!

My flock so far consists of 5 pullets and 5 cockerels, time to thin out the boys!

Well, a phone conversation will be safer, for I have some aggressive little buggers. When someone zips enough to bare enough body they are under attack. And once they are out the others are pecking at their feet.

I told dh maybe this is helping the new arrivals get going alot faster, but it sure is stressful for me to watch.

I'm trying my best to behave and not open the bator, but tomorrow I think I will bring it into the hot humid bathroom and grab the chicks and throw them in the brooder. It will be getting crowded.

I am in love w/ my 2 FBCM girls. When I first got them they were WILD.. Afraid of even a leaf falling.. Now I can touch them, even pet them w/ out them going crazy... AND 10 days ago, At 29 weeks, I got my first egg. Each egg seems a little darker than the one before.. The egg today is a 6 or 7.. Pictures don't do them justice.. I have been so excited --showing everyone = that I haven't eaten one.. Even tho these girls are not show quailty, they are giving me the dark eggs I wanted... NOW , If I could just convince the true Ameraucanas to start laying, I would be in heaven... LOL

Math~ I'm glad that Wynette said cockerel first before I did....

Here's my little Blue Copper boy that just turned 8 weeks old. His wattles are getting bigger faster than his comb. I just noticed some copper coming in on his hackles yesterday. He is one of Bill's boys.

Looking out the window trying to figure out how to get out it.

and when we figured out we couldn't get out that window. We can't blame him for trying can we?

Ms. Debbi~ Tell those babies Auntie Pink says they better get to pippin'!!!

Wynette~ My neighbor is on the look out for another female Emu as her girl died early this year. I can't wait to try hatching eggs for her again. The eggs are beautiful...she was nice enough to give me some blown eggs that she had, I have them lined up as a display in my china hutch. Would love to have some babies they are too cute!!!!!! I understand that it is wise to move them outside by about 2 weeks of age because they can almost get their little beaks on the kitchen counters.

Pink ~ Bill's baby is a handsome dude!! Hope he gets lots of copper in there!

Still no babies!

Still rocking like crazy, today is day 22, so still not frantic, just getting impatient.

Both Fuglee and Pip were froggy this morning sheesh!! Wouldn't ya know I forgot to buy vinegar in town yesterday, may have to go back today before the ugly weather sets in. Supposed to be getting freezing rain and snow tonight and tomorrow, then the temps start to take a dive over the weekend. C'mon springtime!! I'm sick of winter already..

Wow! I've never had mine do that in the bator. They will do it in the brooder though if I put in someone born a day later. Just watch them cause they can get really rough with the smaller ones.

I gave the eggies a verbal, Auntie Pink spanking, and I just heard my first peep!!

We should have someone here by tonight...I hope?

LATEST UPDATE . . . .

I just searched the feathers on their back and I have COPPER feathers ( i.e saddle feathers) growing in . . .
barnie.gif

It is official - - - 4 chicks = 4 roos
barnie.gif

The one with lots of feathers on the feet I just named dinner . . . I guess the others are gonna get similiar names (i.e. lunch, breakfast, midnight snack )

Sorry Lisa..................
