I want to go to a chicken show. DH just want out to fire up the tractor, to plow the driveway, plans have been made to go sledding.... and friends are coming over for rooster soup, and a bonfire this evening. Should be fun but I would give it up for a chicken show in the sunshine state.

Math~

In regards to toes, here are a couple more photos of some Marans feet.

These belong to Gnarles.

These belong to Bill, sorry his toes are all scrunched up standing on the table, I don't think he much cared for this photo shoot.

Will have to get some pictures of some girls' toes today when I'm out doing chores for you.

I am starting to think horse crazy and chicken crazy people are one and the same. Seems like alot of people on here are into horses as well as chickens. Show of hands...

My chicken are on lights, only have issues with spots in the new layers.

Harris 5, I have given my young birds alfalfa cubes to keep them from pecking each other. It helped, but didn't totally eliminate the problem. The birds grew out of it in time. But for a few days it did help.

Pink, those must be really old pictures, cause it's been a long time since we had sunshine.....or so it seems. Oh, I know...you are going to say it was shining just a couple of days ago....I know.... and it's only 5 miles from your house to mine!

I tried the alfalfa cubes for greens but they were uninterested. I put out straw regularly for mud control & they have a ball with it, but haven't tried the flakes of alfalfa hay.

I really can't answer this because I am uncertain......I'm just educating myself on leg colors, we should shout out for VILLAGECHICKEN, he has a great grasp on leg colors and effects. Don or geebs probably know too, lets see what they and others may have to say.

Sorry, been sick for almost 2 weeks, and still recovering from the holidays! Still trying to catch up and get back in my routine... like endless hours on this thread! Glad to be back. Missed a lot!

Is it a blue copper or blue? I don't think cuckoo would make a difference, since it's the barring gene that causes the lighter shanks and if the blue bird isn't barred, then that's not the cause.

Honestly I don't know the standard color for blue marans shanks, but if the correct genes are there, then the shanks on lighter blues and splashes should be very light, since the same genes that cause the black to dilute to blue and splash also dilutes the shank color.

Are the legs like pinky pale white like Wheaten or White Marans shanks? or just a very pale shade of grey? Pictures?

I am NH. What part of VT are you in? I have not found many "Marans" people up here since I became interested.
