I use it during molt which give me about 6 weeks till they lay anyway or while the chickens are resting without lights. Since I don't eat mine I don't need to worry about the suggested 35 day wait for slaughter Since the Ivermectin is so effective it needs to be done once a year. This allows me plenty of time to tackle the pens during molt or rest between lay periods. It is usually 6 weeks so that works out just right. During that time I feed the eggs to the dog, but there usually isn't any... I do one pen at a time. It works on both internal and external parasites... including mites and lice. Since I have lots of wild birds that drop in to steal food this keeps thier little buggies off my babies!!!

Back to the feed.....has anyone ever fed rabbit feed to chickens as a means of getting greens?

Yes Susie, I did find my BJGs. I bought a dozen hatching eggs plus from Echoinghills to be sent out next week. She assured me that they would make a great 4H project & that they are Heritage Black Jersey Giants.....all black like I wanted.
My son lives here. In his own spaceout back. He can be such a help when he wants too..........LOL

Hope you are ready for the rain tomorrow. I just add a temp roof to my play / day pen for my chickies. It was too cold and windy today to do much more. We got the layout and materials ready for the new coops - - - but called it quits after a couple of hours. Just to bitter to be out there today.

Good morning everyone! As far as these meat spots go, I'm hoping it's an age thing and they'll work it out by this spring. My darkest egg girl always has a meat spot in her egg. And for now anyway I'm blaming that meat spot for why I haven't been able to hatch her eggs. I'm really hoping my Roo isn't a dud... since he's such a stud.

The eggs have bullseyes so they're being mated.
