Math~ You are not alone! I too love this thread the way it is, all 900 some odd pages of it. I don't mind when newcombers join in and ask questions that have been asked before, it simply helps keep things fresh in my mind everytime it is answered or repeated and I appreciate the regulars and newcombers who are willing to share their advise, comments and concerns, AND, I certainly don't mind the off topic chatter that goes on either, much better than bickering and some arguements that have been known to surface in conversations regarding Marans and things. I learn something new from every poster who visits this thread, isn't that what this is all about....learning and moving toward a more common goal what ever it is with Marans, be it a person that only wants dark eggs or a person who wants to breed solely for the standard or those who want to do it all, it all relevant to Marans and it's all good with me.

I hope this thread does not change either I have learned alot also and love the "chitchat" just as much as the text book info
I really did not understand all the harsh comments about this thread if others do not like it then there is the whole rest of the forum for them to be on.

Hey everyone. It's been ages since I've been on BYC but I wanted to share pics of the first progeny from my flock.

The cockerels are 12 weeks old and the pullets are 14 weeks old. I've kept the boy with the darker coppering and both girls.

Any ideas on how to breed better tail sets in the girls? The flock they came from all have great tailsets so it was interesting to see the girls I've hatched have pretty high tail sets while the boys have good ones. I cant wait to see the eggs these girls lay!

I've got 16 more in the incubator now!!

Glad you like them lotsapaints. The Fitch line is probably the last of the "old" lines left.

Steve, the birds I hatched from your eggs are turning out quite nicely! I really need to get some pics of them - and those eggs were nice & dark - I'm super excited for the pullets to begin laying! I think they are now 14 or 15 weeks old, so I'll have a bit to wait yet!
