Very pretty hen.

We've finally had some warm weather. The ground is dry, and my chickens are free ranging (except the ones I have in the breeding pen.)

They are loving their dirt baths since they've finally found some dry dirt. There's a lot of excavating going on out there. Yesterday two of them were dirt bathing at the same time right next to each other. It was like they were choreographed or synchonized. It was hilarious to watch. All the baby goats were playing in the background. Gosh, I love spring!

Yes Ivy, that would make quite a cute picture! Nice here yesterday, cloudy here today, but warmer than it has been.

Chick number 3 has hatched!!! Looks like a Black Copper, very black.

Thanks Ivy! I wish the ground would dry out here, but it's still very soggy and mucky.

I love spring time too....my tulip bulbs are coming up but my goaties decided to give all of my spring bulbs that were coming up a nice trim job a couple weeks ago. Good thing they didn't get to them a little later in the season like they did last year, last year they got to them just as the buds came up.

No pretty pink Tulips last year, no pretty and wonderful smelly pink Hiacynth, no Stargazer Lilies

, no pink Astible, very few Peonies.

They even managed to kill my Pink Dogwood tree last year. Bad goaties! They get out when someone other than me goes through the gates....because no one makes sure they are closed and the latch is latched all the way.

Oh, my, Pink! It sounds like you had goat deforrestation last year. I totally understand. We moved here 4 years ago and I have been planting young trees, flowers, shrubs, etc. Last year ALL of our goats were out one day when we came home. They had eaten every leaf in the yard that they could reach. I was just about boiling mad.

Oops. Accidently posted that before I was ready. Anyway, our electric fence was not working recently, and the goats just now learned they could get out. I told hubby we needed to get that fixed before everything in the yard greened up. (It's still pretty brown here.) So yesterday he fixed the fence while I was at work. It maxed out the voltage meter when he tested it. If any of those goats test this fence now they are going to get a real shocker of a surprise!
