Thanks guys! Set up the NICU (other bator

) and put the hernia chick in there. It is not happy to be alone, great set of lungs! Three are in the brooder, and one is still trying to zip, but it doesn't look good, may have to help.

for any of the small ones we had, we took a band aide and put a dab of polysporin on it, then put it over it. uncovered theres a good chance someone will peck it, or it could get caught on the wire floor of an incubator. within a few days it usually takes care of itself

Went in and freed the chick half way. I'll let her get it the rest of the way off, it's the bottom half, the head and shoulders are out. The 3 in the brooder are doing well. What I thought was a black one, may indeed be a very dark blue!

I'm still not sure what the Bill chick is. Very dark, like daddy maybe?? And HUGE!!!!!!!!! Nothing else going on with the rest of the eggs, but after what all this clutch has been through, I'm amazed I got 5!

Push it in carefully and put a bandaid over it to hold it in. If the bandaid won't stick us something else that will stick. I had one like that, and when the bandaid fell off a couple days later it was all healed up.

Good Monday Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

Poularde ~ Raven~ lwarctic~ How are the chicks doing?

enggass~ What's going on Steve? Aren't you getting ready for lockdown pretty soon, like tomorrow? At last count you shared some very nice numbers of good eggies...are we still sitting on the same amount of hopeful's?

We have peeping from with in the 'bator out of the eggs I set for Mel. BTW Mel is doing great, he got a new job and hasn't been online much, but I can assure you all that he misses everyone and BYC.

Thanks for that tip Sue! Silly question for ya..but does the sticky stuff of the band-aid cause any problems with their fluff? Like, get's stuck or pulls down off with it?

Good morning!

Well, looks like 5 may be it for this clutch, but I'm tickled with what I got! Finally had to free the last chick, the shell had shrink wrapped to it's back, I had a hard time getting it off. The one with the hernia was cheeping so loudly last night, I checked to see if it was in pain or what? Took it out of the bator, and the "thing" was gone??? Did it suck back in or fall off?? Whatever happened to it, I put the chick in the brooder with the rest last night, and all are eating, drinking, and running around like happy little crazies!

I was so tired last night, I was OUT like a light by 9pm. Woke this morning at 7 with the dog barking at a deer in the front yard.

Still have the other 9 eggs in the bator, will give them a couple more days till I pull the plug. Will try to get pics of the babies later today! Lots of blue here!! I'm thinking they are all blue of varying shades!

Congrats Debbi, said a prayer and kept my fingers and toes crossed for ya all along. Also, had a chick hatch w/ slight hernia....left it alone and it ended up doing quit well. Was part of an order that I delivered last week.
