How funny.........I egg-topsy all eggs that don't hatch too. I just gotta know what's in there even if I will never know why it didn't hatch.
I have a question though about shipped eggs.................If the eggs are clear does that mean they were never fertile or did they fail to develope possibly because of shipping? I have great hatches with my own eggs but was really disappointed that a dozen (15) shipped eggs I sent only netted 6 chicks. The trader didn't complain & was happy with the 6 but I felt bad. I test hatch before I sell or trade anything.

A couple of quick pics for Grandma Pink!

These are the biggest scaredy cats I have ever had! Will try to set up a one on one photo shoot when I have more time. 8 days old.. The one in the front, facing left in the first pic, is the black looking one. Sure doesn't look black in the pic?? The only Bill chick to survive is the one on the far left. The rest are Gnarles' babies

If there is a roo in the bunch, I believe it's the one on the right in this pic.

Congratulations................The first hatch is the BEST, but they are all great. I never lose the great anticipation that builds as hatch day nears...........LOL

I had read that BCM eggs can be hard to hatch... so I was pleased as punch to have so many of these eggs hatch for us. I also had some Mottled Java's and Barred Olive Eggers eggs from my stock in the incubator with them and they hatched wonderfully as well... it was an all around great hatch! Now I'm surrounded by brooders and peeping!

Hello,

I'm new to chickens and getting my first batch of chicks this Thursday! I can't wait! I'm getting two Cuckoo Marans pullets from that order. I ordered several different breeds to have a nice variety of eggs. I didn't think I was going to get any Cuckoo Marans since they were all sold out but Ideal Hatchery e-mailed me last week, they had a few available so I jumped on it.

I'm very happy and can't wait to see them. Now I heard Cuckoo Marans don't lay as dark as some Marans. Does anyone have a picture of their eggs that they could post up here for me?

Take care!

HI Blue Egg....I'm pretty new to Marans as well (heck, all barnyard fowl it seems) but welcome!

I hope to get some pics soon of our chicks that so far have hatched. Also the chicks I got from NC, pretty beefy babies
