Morning Everyone!

and the Marans thread to all the new folks joining. Great to see new faces!
Debbi~ They are adorable and no that chick isn't a splash....I have it's twin in my brooder right now, hatched from the same pullet and Bill. The one I have is a Black Copper and a cockerel and just as light as the one you have. Poularde hatched one similar to these two that we have. These are some of the first chicks like this to come out of Bill and his dtrs., but this is also only the second gen. cross back onto Bill's blood crossed with Davis blood, so very hard telling what the 2 will create without a little more time to watch and observe. These chicks remind me very much of the first little chick of yours that you hatched and posted last year that was very light that I asked you questions on after you posted pic's of it. Who did that chick grow up to be? I can't remember.

That light chick in my first clutch grew up to be a BCM pullet, and very dark, hardly any coppering showing through. The Bill chick here doesn't look black to me, lots of blue in it. The only one that could possibly be black, also has blue colored shoulders, and some bluish streaks on the head. The body color is almost a flat black. Will be interesting to see how they all feather out!

I'm posting this here because I read a post that there was a shortage of boys out there (I never seem to have that problem

If anyone in the California Bay Area/Nor Cal needs some cockerels, I have a few boys that are looking for new homes. They just turned 7 weeks old and were hatched from #6 eggs from hens that have been laying for about 9 months.
