My babies are doing great! I really like one of my Gnarles chicks. I believe he may be a roo. They are growing fast. They are outgrowing their brooder. I had a surprise checking on them today. Someone was perched on top of the brooder.
Time for a lid.
One of my chicks from Bill looks almost exactly like your Bill baby.
Gees, they grow so fast! Uhhh, that would be a roo on top of the brooder
Let me see a pic of your Bill chick, please?? I'm still not sure what color she will be. How old are yours? 3 weeks? Seems your's were born before mine?
Yeah I think the one on top of th e brooder is a roo. So far he is my favorite one.
Mine are about three weeks. I only have one shot of him and it is pretty bad. My camera's batteries died when I tried to take some photos. I will have to try another day.
This is the Blue Copper that hatched out of Monique's eggs! It's Black brothers and sisters are still too new for photoshoots.
The camera washed out the egg color, it's much richer than what the picture shows.
The little feathered legs are so stinkin' cute!
This picture captures the egg color a bit better, though the eggs are still darker in person. The blue egg in the middle is one of my own, the olive egg is also from Monique.
Are you sure that Bill's kiddo isn't black? Looks black to me.
Poularde and Debbi~ I have several of those Bill babies in the brooder and they all look like your 2. I did get one blue one this time that is very light and marked like the 2 you both have pictured here. I also have one just like them that is over a month old now and is coloring in just like a Black Copper would.
Took a sneak peek at my little very dark blue Bill Jr boy....he is so dark it's almost impossible to tell him from the black ones.....but the even darker lacing gives him away in a snap, that and fact that he is HUGE at just over 2 months old. One of my younger blue copper girls from Bill that is only a little over a month is the same size as the Bill Jr boy. I likes 'em on the big side what can I say.
Debbi~ I'm looking them over....hold on.
and now I see Poularde's pics up and Jeremy's adorable little Blue...I could be looking/drooling for more than a minute.
I don't know about the Bill chick and the other one. I've only hatched BCMs before that were obviously black. Is it different when they have a black and blue parent? In Blue Butt's hatch, they were all from blue/blue coppers, so it was easier for me to tell the colors, (HA, all 3). Does the blueish feathering show up in the BCM chicks if one of the parents is blue?? At least two chicks here give me a question as to the color. All, but the one BCM pullet, show some blue chick feathering. Cornfused yet again!
Just put my 16, Blue-Black-Splash Copper, eggs from Nadine into lockdown. They are already rocking and rolling! Very entertaining to see. Makes me think of the mexican jumping beans we used to get as kids.
