Vicki~ There is a photo of him on the page just before this one. He is the splash in the second photo. I can't remember how far back the other photos of him are. If I had to guess I would say about 10-12 pages back. Sorry.

Hi Kim~
frow.gif

So what can you tell me about eggs laid by Splash girls? Color? Also, the Splash girl I have is from Bill. Will she have any copper on her?

Another question... do you find any correlation between amount of copper on a BCM and egg color?
Thanks,
Steve

Beautiful Seabreeze! I'm no expert by any means but I think you're Roo in the first pic is really handsome. I'll PM you in the morning about how many chicks I can bring you on the 23rd!

thanks AyeUp! I really like the looks of the first roo as well but the dark blue at the bottom is the one Illia recommended.

I am curious, for any of the color experts here, what are the modifiers (if any) that take the dark blue to light blue? How does the lavender gene come about from the blue? I know in dogs, to get lilac/lavender you need brown + dilute gene. Example of lilac/lavender breed exhibting brown + dilute is the Weimaraner.

Kind a new to this site but here to stay. Just lurking in the trees
What a Great looking Copper Splash Rooster, by the way all he's on page 1415
Do you have any eggs or chicks to sell from him, I had a Splash last year and miss him. not in any hurry
Also looking for Golden Cuckoo birds or eggs

I have questions for the Marans experts. I had cuckoo Marans a few years back. They laid lovely eggs, but were poor layers. I find that I really want those eggs again, but I like the blue Marans and blue wheaten.

How do you get those colors? I've seen them offered on auctions where the seller said they 'created' them. How? I'm not new to chickens, by any means, but I am new to Create-a-chicken.

I just need a simple explanation, because I'm probably not going to go out and buy the ingredients....

It's just the last time I looked FBCs were all the rage and now they come in all the colors of the rainbow. Oh, do they have bantams available in the U.S. ?

Thanks for not making me read 1400+ pages.

I am going to give you a REAL SIMPLE explanation and may not be TECHNICALLY correct, but you will get the idea.

BLUES come from a diluted black gene. Blue Copper and Black Copper marans can be raised together in the same pen

Blacks mated to Blacks = 100% blacks
Blacks mated to blues = 50% blacks and 50% blues
Blues mated to blues = 25% splash, 25% blacks, 50% blues.

I know NOTHING about wheaten, BUT would assume the theory would be similliar.
