Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

What beautiful Marans! I let my Marans free today (they were in the run with the other chickens but separated in their own cage for about three weeks.) There was some pecking but my Red Stars weren't that mean, thank goodness! My black copper marans pullet stood up to my second biggest Red Star...she's feisty! While my blue copper marans pullet runs away and tries to hide behind her old cage.

haha...I have a black copper pullet that is the same way..actually its the one in that top pic I posted. She doesn't back off from anyone else. She's super sweet, just a no crap kinda girl when it comes to picking and etc. Chickens social dynamics are pretty funny to watch sometimes...especially when they are trying to establish order.

Steven,

You've had your humidity at 55-60% for the first 18 days??? That's what it should be for the lockdown period, the first 18 days should be around (give or take) 35-40%.

It's so hard to monitor the humidity in this incubator

I did check and it's at 50%

The last three days I run 55-60 and have no problems. There is no lockdown for me as I use Sportsman Incubators and never heard of lockdown until I came on BYC. Don
