I had a few in that I colored I got a lavender as you see also got a bright yellow and a green the yellow one you can see is natural

but how did I get them out of a splash X splash mating?

One possible way for these birds to have popped up is that....the rooster used and one of the hens used were infact blue and not splash. Some blues can be so light they can be mistaken for splash....especially considering that the blue gene is a leaky gene and will/can allow darker random feathers to appear throughout the body of a blue bird, hence being mistaken for splash. Put the very light blues with the random darker feathers together thinking they are splash and they would produce some black offspring since blue does not breed true. Blue x Blue yeilds 25% Black, 25% Splash and 50% Blue.

Give me a minute and I will search for a photo of one of my Blue Copper hens that has leakage of darker blue feathers on the body and I will post it for you to see.

Thanks...in that case, I do not see any Splash chicks in this photo. I see lots of blues and some blacks, but no Splash.

Hi Susie,

Still alive here thankfully! We had more storms last night after 1am, and I slept through them!

I think my mind and body just shut down and refused to take any more stress. Awoke to my Quaker parakeets screaming in the dark, just enough to open my eyes to see the power had gone out. Thankfully, it came right back on, so the brooder chick didn't get chilled and neither did the eggs in the bator. Went right back to sleep. More severe stuff coming today between noon and five, and this time it is targeted for my area...oh joy.

I know what you mean about having to watch a funnel cloud or twister. They are extremely fascinating to me too, yet at the same time they terrify me. I watched a huge funnel cloud form out of my north window in March, when the Fort by me got hit. Between the flashes of lightning, I could see it get closer and closer to me with each flash, yet I couldn't tear myself away! Last flash of lightning, and it was gone. The thought occured to me that maybe it was right OVER my house!

Talk about a chicken without a head, I didn't know where to go, there is NO place to go here. Luckily, it didn't touch down, but the storm went on forever. Feels like PTSD is setting in, as my body just starts vibrating with the first clap of thunder. If we can get through this day, we will have a break in the weather for a few days. Spent the good part of yesterday checking out storm shelters. Seems the best built and best priced is all the way over in Carthage, and they also do search & rescue, so they are in Joplin right now. It's so wet here now, I doubt they could dig a hole without it caving in anyway. So for now, it all boils down to a lot of praying!

Has anyone heard from KathyinMO??

She had posted recently(read it today), maybe yesterday on one of the other threads- can't remember which one.

See Kim that is what I see too I am very surprized at how they are feathering out I will get picture tonight. They are sure as s*@# splashed, mottled or some such its weird very pretty but weird.

I'm glad you said the yellow chick was a Delly, I was thinking WHAAATTT????

I agree, I don't see any splash in that bunch.

Pretty hard to see but if you look real close you will see a few random feathers that are peeking out that look black or very dark blue..see the one near her shoulder?

This is Slate...a blue copper pullet that did not show any copper, but she did have a random dark blue feather in her tail. I no longer have her because her egg color was pathetic. I did love her though..she was a sweetie.

Beautiful girls! I have some looking like that too (not these chicks) and wondered if they would be blue or splash I was thinking blue so thanks for clearing that up. I can't wait to show you these chicks the coloring is different for sure. I like the way they are looking just can't explain it.
