How old are they? Cute pictures!

They are 9 weeks old! And thank you everyone--I was so hoping they were pullets!! They seem to have more color in their comb than my young pullet cochins. I am so excited!! Now I need to work on hatching a few more eggs with the hope of a cockerel! I have wanted Marans every since I saw those beautiful eggs!!! We are kind of burnt out on hatching this season so hopefully in the spring I can get some nice eggs and try for a few more--only problem with that is these girls are going to need a rooster by then....

Thanks again for taking time to answer!!

There may be some folks with extra roosters who are willing to share.

I would be interested in hearing if there is anyone close in South Carolina or if someone would be willing to ship what cost would be--please pm me if there are any out there.

I've got a Birchen that needs a home. In NY, but am bringing him to NJ to go in the sale cage. Maybe a chicken train to get him to you? Also have a bunch of BCM, only 2 months old, so I haven't made any decisions, yet

Morning Everyone!

Happy Saturday!

Got ANOTHER broody!
barnie.gif
I have totally stopped counting how many this makes for the year now. This BCM gal has already been broody 2x this year and once she happily raised a batch of olive eggers. The other time she decided she was just trying to fake me out...but this time she is determined. She is sitting on 2 Marans eggs right now just until she is settled in to her new space because I moved her out of the big coop. Once I know she is settled I will take her some of the eggs out of the 'bator.
The blue gal that was trying to be broody decided that she wasn't happy about being moved in the broody house, so she quit and abandoned the eggs she was trying to sit on. Now that I put her back in her regular coop she is trying to sit again in the nest box....I swear she is trying to make me scream and pull out my hair. I'll be if I am going to play her game again...nope. She can sit there on nothing and get it out of her system, finicky twerp, geesh!

You'd be better off trying to find one near you. Shipping an older bird will run you around $70.00! He'd better be a darned good bird for me to pay that much in just shipping!
