They are adorable! Don't be to worried about the last little baby photo'd...sometimes they come out like this and it is okay. Here's the likely scenario when it grows up.

Most likely it will be one of the darkest birds you have such as possibly not enough copper and it will possibly have some mossiness issues going on.....but if it is a girl.....I bet she is your darkest egg layer. Can't wait to watch this one grow up to see how it does turn out.

Congrats on your hatch!

I don't know why...but it always does seem to be the favorites that go missing. It sucks!

I wish I knew what chickens were thinking...because they do funny things sometimes...like the hiding from the others while molting and such. Ya gotta wonder what he's thinking

flgarden~

I hear ya on those sunbleached faded yucky looking old blue feathers......when I see them mixed in with the new bright clean and pretty blue feathers I want to yank the rest of the nasty one out. they are just blech.....

I hope your girl comes home.

I'm excited to hear what's going on under that broody of yours! I'm still waiting on my girl...she seems to have settled in for the long haul which is pretty impressive since she already set for 21 days before this set of eggs. Crazy girl. Maybe she's gonna end up being like your Darryl and be a crazy broody girl? Funny thing is a splash too and I think she might be the one i told you I had a carbon copy of over here. Its hard to keep them all straight since they look so similar when they are not right next to each other.

I am going to see here in a few minutes if I can go out and try to get a few photos...I gotta figure out my entry forms anyways, so why not try to just take care of it all at once? Plus, I gotta test out how I'll hold up doing things since i'm supposed to go to work for a long shift later today.

send pics of what you got... about 2 weeks ago my little broody sat on a clutch for a week and a half then changed her mind over night I saw her out wondering around so I candled the eggs quick and went to work then when I got home she was still out wondering around. Babysitter said she hadn't been back in the coop.

eggs were cold so I threw them in the bator but alas like 4 days later no movement....I'm going through withdrawls

Hey Anna.... this is Gigantor, one of my favorite boys...I need to get an updated pic of him once he's done molting..hopefully he'll start growing in feathers soon. He's gotten a lot broader in the chest and lost the long tail feathers, so its improved his back and tail carriage quite a bit.

Hey Kim.... now that my paranoia about comb issues is alive and well I was wondering what you might be able to tell me about the carnation comb info you said you were researching? Is it pretty much hopeless? That's the vibe I'm getting anyways....
