I posted this pic the other day, but will repost it again for you. This is my splash copper boy...he is 7 months old and still growing like a weed. I don't have a name for him yet, I call him Big Boy so far as he is just monsterous.
You missed this pic by the way Debbi when the weather was crappy down your way.

I feel like my 2 roos have good color and size, but they have obvious defects that keep them from being of show or breeding quality.
Jake has white in his tail and a dark blue spot in his chest. Elwood has way too many points on his comb and if a judge ever heard him crow he would DQ him for doing a bad imitation of a chicken.
But I think that they look cool and they do have a lot of personality.

Handsome pair of boys you have there Mel ! I think the dark blue spot would actually be okay. Blues are known to be leaky things. The white in the tail would be the thing to worry about. Maybe it will moult out.

The sad fact is I cannot comment on this roo because I am so JEALOUS I pretty much can't see straight. I feel VERY strongly that he should be Canadian ....

Oh man.....that splash is a very nice looking "Big Boy."

Window into my thoughts about your Roo...."Nice long back, good tail, well feathered feet, love the size......listen to me? I'm predenting to be a poultry judge" (lol) Handsome big!

haha aren't we all. But honestly, that's what I love about this thread...there are so many people that have different viewpoints

The thing I find interesting about Big Boy and Gigantor (my BCM boy previously posted a while back)...while people like them now...they were ugly when they were young. Without a doubt, in the last two years of raising Marans is that I have learned to go with gut and if something is telling me to keep a bird...I listen. By far these are two of the best males I've hatched out so far...and I have hatched a ton of boys in my time raising them. When they were young if I were to look at just what they had then and culled them...man, I would've been missing out on some pretty sweet roos!
