I don't know about that Mel.... I think protecting our birds is like protecting our children. These babies ( with or without feathers) depend on us to keep them safe.
I, personally, took out a pygmy rattler that I caught out near my pot belly pigs. The only thing I had laying around was about 1/2 of a 2 x 4 and I beat that rattler to a bloody pulp. Then I calmly found DH and asked to dispose of the body for me LOL....

Doing great Mel, but it is getting late for me . . . so I am about to call it quits for tonight.

As usual, I will have to experience the high energy of the WEST COASTERS after the fact!

BURR, it was soo cold here today. It was WINDY and didn't get above 65. Tomorrow is suppose to be a much better day and I have a BILLION chicken things that I need to get done.

DANG, DANG, Dang, .... I didn't even collect the eggs tonight! There is probably some rat / corn snake out there right now eating one of my Jumbo Marans eggs!

This getting darker earlier thing is killing me.

MEL, I see you have a new Avaitar..... Is that from a recent kill?

I would change my avaitar around..... but I can't find the original picture of the front of the pig

I am so NOT INTO the clean up!

I will shovel poop and spread it all over my yard without even blinking. I will do surgery on my favorite hen's bumble foot.
I will bait and set the live traps for those troublesome oppossums. I'll worm my birds and check their poop for worms.

I will do what needs to be done..... BUT once it is DEAD, I don't want to touch it - - YUCK!

Ok this is what i understand. Blue dilutes black. Two blue genes (breed blue to blue) will produce some splash and they have 2 copies of the blue gene. Blacks just have 2 copies of black genes. Blues have one black and one blue gene.

Barring is a gene that is attached to the z chromosome. roos are zz and hens are zw. BUT because they only need one copy of the barring gene for barring to show roos will sometimes only carry one copy.... thus the BSL stuff I mentioned. I think barring would be dominate since only one copy is needed. Recessive traits need two copies to show. BTW in your note hens determine gender of chicks.

I was hoping someone with more knowledge would jump in. But wanted to offer what help I know.
