x2 !! All my silkies got soaked to the bone yesterday. I had them in a little pen and forgot about them when it started POURING out of nowhere yesterday. I felt really bad for them when it finally quit raining enough for me to get out there and put them back in thier coop.

Ok Pink...I'm not going to go through all of the thread to check this out..or go to search to see if I can find you somewhere else..so I'll just ask you! How in the world did you get that chick your Avatar>>>PINK? And, you left a white wing, or did you find a white crayon.

Pretty cute..what breed is that?
I actually have a neighbor down the street that loooves pink. She wears pink all of the time. Something she wears is pink, shirt, pants, shoes..jacket...something.

And you guys move so fast on this thread, I have to ask who it was that used the purple med. on their chickens butt? I also have problems with one of my girls being picked on. I mean that poor chicken doesn't have much of a tail. And it's a bantam that grabs and holds onto her, she really does not like that poor LF hen. There is one other that doesn't like her, but all she has to do is turn her way, and the scarredy cat runs.
Anyway, back to the meds..what was that you used..she actually had blood on her back end yesterday from being picked on by my sweet little mottled cochin bantam..never had a cochin bantam be this onery! Just not like them.

It was me that used the blue med on my chicken's butt lol. It is called Blue Kote and is a veterinary antiseptic. My girl was having her feathers plucked out by the others and had some that were broken and bloody which encouraged the others to keep picking at them. One spray of blue stuff and they left her alone. SHe is already much improved. Just make SURE to wear gloves and old clothing because that stuff really stains. I got mine at Tractor SUpply but you can probably order it online as well.

Thanks, now that I read the name, I know I've heard of it before..yep, it stains..but I don't care about staining her little bum, will have to wear the old clothes like you suggested though.

I have read that nail polish remover will help take it out of your clothes and off your skin. I haven't tried it though. The blue kote, itself, smells just like rubbing alcohol so prob has some in it. I haven't read the ingredients yet lol. Just don't spray it on a windy day LOL!

Cynthia~

That is a picture I found online somewhere and it fit the name perfectly so.......I assume they dyed the chick just before hatch. The white in the wing tip is probably grow out as the color just grows out of them or so I read. I know they use birds or breeds that hatch out white because the color shows the best. Sometimes the feed stores around here carry dyed chicks at Easter time.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments regarding my birds. I am excited for them to start laying.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!!!!
