Pink~ I have been working from dark to dark and feeding in the dark!

The chicks are in a brooder in the feed shed and I have not noticed anything going on with them but I will look at each tonight and let you know. I sure hope not!
I still have good combs on the 3 birds I have from you, but still watching close before putting them in a breeder pen. I still have not decided to use the Gnarles son even in a test situation yet kind of scary if you know what I mean. I have a beautiful Blue Copper Roo that I used last year that has produced some nice offspring. His copper is not great but his kiddos are, so I will probably keep using him.

Everyone stomps off at one time or another. Pretty much the same way it works with family and friends. They do usually come back too!

Wish I could feel the warm fuzzies this morning! It is FREEZING HERE!!! If the wind would quit blowing, it wouldn't be too bad...brrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry you are freezing already. We are finally getting down to 36 in a few nights. Its still nice during the day. My birds are LOVING this weather.
I am setting up my winter greenhouse today and tomorrow

I have 13 huge plumeria plants I have to dig up because I sunk thier pots in the ground. I didn't think they were gonna grow into huge monsters this year grrrr. They will not fit in the greenhouse so don't know where I am gonna put them yet.
The chickens are going to be in heaven trying to get all the bugs and worms when I pull those plants out of the ground. They love to help me garden!!

Unfortunately here on my end I don't believe hope is going to help me out this time....I'm sure it's split.

Of course it effects 2 that I believe are pullets.

Don This is split, right? The primaries also stick out away from the body.

Morning, friends! Have been enjoying the conversation here. I should apologize for not popping in more. I guess I'm just not as big on chitty chat as most.

I DO, however, want to say that in all the talk we often get wrapped up in all the wrong/negative with the breed, but so many of us have made HUGE strides - I want to congratulate all who are continuing to learn and apply that knowledge to their breeding programs - ME INCLUDED - it's such a good way to learn. Read it, ponder it, breed for it....see it right there in front of you! Awesome stuff, learning! Anyway, keep up all the GOOD you are doing, be proud of what you have accomplished, keep moving forward!

Hi everyone, I just thought I would drop in and share a couple pics of my quad of BCM's. I'm not sure of their lineage as when I got them about this time last year I didnt know much about them and all the different lines their was (at that point I just knew I wanted dark eggs in my egg basket) so I didnt think to ask the lady I got them from what line they were. Please feel free to comment on their good and bad qualities but please take it easy on me as Im just getting started and dont know much about breeding and genetics. I will be glad to take all comments as to how I can make their bad qualities become good qualities also. To start with I know the rooster has some white at the base of his tail feathers, he doesnt have enough shank feathers and his comb has to many points. Im hoping to be able to replace him with one of the four cockerel chicks that I hatched earlier in the summer. two or 3 of them are already looking nice.
