Barb, The book Poultry Breeding by Morley A. Jull has a nice article on Feathered shanks inheritance and article on feather stubs also. page 212 - 213. I see nothing about the Canadian Dew being involved though. I believe several sections of this book are available on the internet. If I could only own one poultry Book it would be this book.

I can only hope ALL the folks subscribed to this thread are laughing as hard as I am at this topic!!!! But all joking aside, I WILL look up the book, Don. Thank you.

Barb. just a little of what the book says from research that was done. With Croad Langshan being crossed over non feathered shanks, the F1 chicks were heavy feathered and the F2 were at a 3 to 1 ratio. One gene involved.

For the heavier feathered shanks Two Autosomal genes involved .

That was me asking about the bands. What online supplier has a good price on Vetwrap? Can you get it in a variety pack of different colors? Thanks! I really want a good alternative to the spiral bands, sounds like this is it. And you never have problems with them picking it off?

Yep....I don't need the larger bandettes, unless I have roosters that are almost identical that I can't tell apart that I am growing out. After they reach a certain age around 4-5 mos. and or are culled and I am not keeping them, I see no need to use the bands, but I do have the larger ones and will use them if need be, but really I only need the bands for the all the girls.
