You can use this photo for eye color and for the "horn" beak.

I don't know if this is the best photo for leg color on a Black Copper as I took this photo to show his shank feathering but, IMO, this is good leg color for a BCM. If you need a better photo let me know and I will go on the search for one but I know there has to be others out there with some more photos of BC leg color, hope they will come by and post for you.

I really think it would be a good idea to show examples of the standard with our photo collection.

That (IMO) would be a good photo for leg color and leg feathering.
Wynette has got to have some photos of what a really good comb would look like.

Beak is suppose to be HORN color with black shading allowed. Anyone ever tried to google HORN as a color? LOL
A picture of the proper color of a beak would be nice.

How about this from the SOP ? ??

TAIL: Full, rather short, carried at an angle of 45 degrees above horizontal.
Main tail feathers -- broad and overlapping, shorter than average.
Sickles -- shorter than average.

Average and rather short are terms that mean something to us, but not to newbies. A photo of a good tail would be nice too.

Do you see where I am going with this? We have photos of clear NO NO's, but the bring the SOP to life, photos illustrating good examples of each component would be good to have too.

Just my thoughts folks..

I agree. It would be awesome too if someone had pictures of the actual birds that are winning at shows

Oo- I have a GREAT pic for eye color - off to find it!!
Could probably be good for "horn color with some black", too.

That is not quite what I had in mind.... We ALL have birds in our very own backyards that have faults and DQ's. However, we also have birds, the SAME birds that have bits and pieces of the SOP perfect.

For example, a bird with a PERFECT comb may also have WHITE wing feathers. We could use close ups of the PERFECT comb to show what that part of the bird SHOULD look like and pics of the white wing feather in another section to show what should not be there.

Sometimes we get so focused on What SHOULDN't be there that we FAIL to ILLUSTRATE what SHOULD be there.. . .

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the SOP was written for those who had been around the chicken block a time or two. NEWBIES.... can have a real hard time sorting through all the verbal descriptions. Adding a pic here and there to go with the verbal SOP description could help folks out.

I think so - Don said it had a thumb print (but I don't remember which side - probably it right there in the middle.
(I'm one of the newbies trying to figure this all out!)

I don't know how to draw on it, though!

You're welcome to use the pic anyway you see fit!

Hey Pink those are hen legs aren't they? Isn't the standard dark slate for hens and pale slate for roos?
Those look too dark for roo shanks to me.
