WOW! That's a HEN on the left?!

I'm a newbie, so don't mind showing what faults I have or had - I can only improve, right!?

I have:
crossed beak on a Red Star - it is minimal b/c her beak is clipped, but still noticeable (she came to me that way)

unevenly serrated points on a chick

I might have eyes too dark and ears too dark - depends on how he shed out

naked legs - splash girl

Hi dowden!

I don't know if this is the best photo for leg color on a Black Copper as I took this photo to show his shank feathering but, IMO, this is good leg color for a BCM. If you need a better photo let me know and I will go on the search for one but I know there has to be others out there with some more photos of BC leg color, hope they will come by and post for you.

Hey Pink those are hen legs aren't they? Isn't the standard dark slate for hens and pale slate for roos?
Those look too dark for roo shanks to me.

Nope, sorry both sets of legs belonged to cockerels. I haven't run into light legs in my birds that I started out with.....I did however run into light legs when I started breeding the females from Florida and got a few lighter legged males out of those crosses but did not keep them past approx. 5-6 mos of age. I'm not fond of the lighter legs, I really like the dark legs that give the appearance of the "mono-tone" look from the thigh to the toes.

Just some random leg shots of some of my males.
This is Bill when he was very young (it's funny, I don't remember him ever being that small ) they are still pretty much very similar....just lots bigger.

Bill's 1st and only Black Copper son that I have been lucky enough to ever hatch out thus far, Junior. He had very dark legs. Sorry for the fuzzy photo. Wish I could get another Black Copper from Bill.

A couple of lighter legged males that I spoke of earlier.

I got the greatest photo today of "mossy" for you.

About Bill's comb....do you seriously see thumbprint? I went out today and gave him a work over and I can't see or feel thumbprint on his comb. Am I looking at the wrong thing?
I can see the thumbprint on Cad's bird but cannot see it on Bill. I have some more comb photos of Bill's comb that I will look for in the morning and tell me what you think. If he does have the thumbprint all I can say is that with the stupid carnation stuff happening around here........I'll take 20 thumbprints please.

PINK,

You better holler girl... I just marked up where I thought it looked like a thumbprint. If it ain't there say something and I will pull the pic from the collection.
I will re-list the photo from wrong ear tuft color.

I hear you on the being grateful for thumbprints over carnation combs ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

Your arrows are much better than my pink free handed ones.

He does not have anything there. I will go through more photos of Bill's comb for you in the morning and you can look again, but he has nice comb. He could use some moisturizer from time to time and right now he has a very tore up comb because he has been fighting with G2 through the fence, it looks so pretty all scabby and bloody and stuff.

Oh you are going to love the mossy photo....are you ready for it?

edited to add: Wanna tell me if this is thumbprint on Lil' Bill. (Will post photo in a second it is uploading)

Give me a couple of minutes to remove any pics or comments indicating a thumbprint

on this rooster.

EAR TUFTS... How come I can't find any reference to them on the SOP thread on Page 1?

What color are they suppose to be ?

I KNOW we have discussed it many times on the thread and am just so surprised that I don't see it in the SOP.

Ready for the mossy any time . . .

ok - if I'm understanding Thumb prints correctly - there is a inverse and converse??
Never knew that!!

I see where you put the arrow on my guy that there is a fold like the converse, but I'll have to go look tomorrow to see if he has the inverse. If so, I can get a pic!

If not, is it still a thumb print?
(do you have to have both sides for it to be a thumb print?)
