Well, as of last night, I have one little chipmunk!

Tiny, but quite rowdy. I sure hope at least one more hatches, I hate for it to be alone for two weeks when the next batch hatches.

Morning!

Have eggs cookin' that are due on the 21st and then popped in 6 more this morning that were suppose to go to DMRippy, but last night as I was carrying them out the to table to wrap and package, I stumbled and fell on them, broke all but 6. Also got a nice shiner out of the deal, it's very pretty this morning, had my hands full and the face hit the floor first. Going to start collecting for Donna again, that was such a bummer.
Thinks me has a sinus infection, had a mouth full of dental work done late last week, including having a tooth pulled that was not worth saving and I think the socket is giving me problems as it hurts, or perhaps it was the doritos that aggrivated it I don't know, but going to see the dentist for it anyway. Happy Monday right?

Got rid of the Birchen boys, the funky hackled Blue Copper boy and my Delaware rooster and several 6 week to 2+ month old cockerels, including the last one with the stupid comb, but kept the Birchen cockerel that has it for testing later. Tired of the cost of feeding them and the large Birchen boy had that sprig, dang it!

If he hadn't had that sprig he would still be here....he was BEAUTIFUL! With the chicks coming from Tom Culpepper I decided that I would keep the girls that I just hatched out and see what comes of the Birchen chicks from him.

Only kept the Splash cockerel from Lil' Bill, excited to see how he turns out, for only about 7-8 weeks or so old, he is already looking very nice.

I am down to only 4 mature roosters now, 3 Marans and 1 Barnevelder...it is very quiet this morning. I also did not keep a pure Davis cockerel either.

so far MUCH better. I'm just gonna have to be extra careful when i go outside for any length of time. I'm working on merging all my breeding records into one book...its goin well, but gotta leave for work in just a bit. At least its just a short shift!

I spent a bit of time looking at my birds again yesterday when I was doing chores and am really happy about how some of them are filling out. I also really stopped to look at some of my girls that are just about a year and a half or so that are totally feathered out after their molt and it really is true that they keep growing for quite a while. I have a blue girl that is just a tank and a half. She was one of the very first chicks I hatched and has always been one of my favorites.... (don't tell the others that

). I have been thinking of taking progressive shots on a more regular schedule of a few birds as they progress to see how they grow and develop over time. I think it would be really interesting!

WOW! You have been busy! All this starting over and having to cull so heavily sure can take a toll, but I do think you will really be glad you did down the road! I've been thinking non stop about the babers coming! I am also getting some BCMs and BLRW from sue and think that's what I'm going to limit myself to this year for outside stock since I'm seeing such good progress in my hatches from this last year that I think maybe....once I get these chicks in...I will be in good position to close my flock

I really hope that you get to feeling better!! That sounds like a nasty tumble you took! And I hope the dentist will be able to help you get some relief!

You know what I'm gonna say next! I would love to see a pic of the splash boy!!

Wow Kim, hope you get to feeling better! You and Vicki are accident prone, eh? Try some salt water on that dry socket, but it may very well have been the Dorritos!

I see you have been cleaning house! I would like to know the "sound of silence" with only 3 roos! The dogs woke me up early this morning, but not early enough to beat JR to the punch! Gees, 4am and he's already crowing his head off! Maybe if I leave the house today, one more Silkie will hatch. That darned LG has been all over the place with the heat and humidity this time, probably because of the temp drops and ups here. Next hatch in the other bator should go more smoothly.

I hate to admit it...but I'm horribly accident prone....the worst part is that it can go months where things go fine...no problems...and then it reappears over and over until I think I'm goin nuts! haha
