Hmmm, found out why my free range girls seemed to be slacking lately. The parade of hens comes to the front porch, to take turns laying their eggs in the Priority Mail box there. All of a sudden, I see 3 of my cats also appear. They are paying full and close attention to the hen in the box! I have EGG SUCKING CATS!! They even eat the shells! So far, since I've been watching them, I have collected 2 eggs today, with one more on the way right now. I also have my big dog standing guard on the porch to keep the cats away. No wonder these cats have looked so sleek all winter long...sheeeeesh!![]()
Round 2 of the storms are due in tonight. Beautiful 70* day here right now, but storms tonight....![]()
Hey......I'm up!Trying to catch up on posts. HI MATH!!!!!! Missed you 'round here lately! Glad you had a good time at the show and thanks for sharing all your photos with us.![]()
Thanks everyone for compliments on those eggs...she gave me another yesterday and they are sitting with the rest of the Marans eggs awaiting their turn for the top tray in the 'bator. In a couple days I move the Olive eggs down a tray and will load it up again.
Ya'll remember the 26 fridge eggs I set???? 15 of them are doing great ,set for hatch on the 12th.
Vicki~ Those chickies are CHUNKERS!!!!!! OMGosh! Whatchu feedin' them girl? LOL!
Very cute chick! Feathered legs don't necessarily mean Marans. It doesn't look like either a Black Copper (black and yellow chick) or Blue, certainly not splash. Splash would be a white/yellow chick. That head spot and the frosty tipping on the wing feathers REALLY suggest cuckoo in the mix. Way too much brown/red to be Black or Blue Copper or Splash. Very unusual looking but pretty!! Beak and leg colour are off for a Marans as well.
