I knew you could do it! I've had 2 born that way, one Marans and one Silkie. Both survived quite well once they healed up.

I just had to share - I brought home 6 wheaten/blue wheaten marans chicks straight from Cree Farms...I am super excited!

Ugh the broodies have hit and is spreading fast! Good thing I am done setting eggs to hatch for the spring/summer. Last batch for hatching is going in the bator tomorrow. Bought some BBS marans eggs to add to my Black coppers.

But I do feel bad for my egg customers at work. They've gotten used to lots of eggs, and when I mention broodies they think my chickens have gotten sick!

Broodies here, too! Now at 7, and counting...
Ditto on the egg customers. Some have prepaid. I'm lucky school is ending soon, so I'll have much less contact with customers!

Your Welcome. I think I have photos or I can find photos for you. Will take a minute or 2. I do know that I had some girls that had some whitish tinge to the earlobe for a while just as they began to lay and then within a couple weeks it was gone. I'm thinking that it is something that you should not worry about, but photos would definitely help. If it were permanant white you would know it from the get go.
They have not been this way since the beginning, they just turned this white-ish color correct?

Thanks, Pink!

You're totally right! They started laying in the last few weeks and the tinge of white wasn't there last cull (@5wks ago)
Wouldn't that be lovely, if it disappeared again!

That said - what IS it??
I guess I can always test mate and see if the offspring get it...??....

Pink, anything happening?

Debbi, what about yours?

I found another bad egg. So I didn't even candle it, it was ozzing and smelled. So it was not going in my hatcher

Great job on the chick, Martha!!

I'm going to Unadilla - he has cages, so that the buyers can get a good look at the birds, so should be a really nice sale!
Taking bunches of bantam cochins, some marans, and, possibly, some b/b/s wheaten americauna!!

Sale is on Sunday

Come and check them out before they're all gone!!
I'm home from school now!!
