Take a look at the pics of my newest hatches. I'm going for a blue Marans that lays green eggs with brown splotches/speckles

Actually I have a blue EE that lives with the Black Copper Marans and she lays a large blue/green egg every day. I put a bunch of them in bator to see what would hatch. They are the prettiest color light blue and have feathered legs. I'm wondering since the blue/green egg color is dominate if they will lay blue/green eggs or brown eggs?

Should I eat it, hatch it or frame it?

This egg is from a 6 months old Black Copper pullet. She has been laying for about a week. It has what appears to be fine lines of white paint in very interesting patterns. The white line patterns are slightly raised, but do not rub off. It's not poop.

I've never seen anything like it. Is she sending a message??????

That cross is what they call olive eggers.

I just hatched some olive eggers this weekend. Its my easter egger hen crossed with my black copper marans.
Mine came out alot darker than yours though, they are real black with the white/yellow breast, the tips of their wings are yellow and they all have feathered shanks.
I have heard they are suppose to lay the deep olive green egg with the speckles.
Somewhere on this thread, near the beginning I think, someone posted pictures of their olive eggs.

The ones born with pea combs are most likely to lay olive eggs. the ones with single combs are only 3% chance of laying blue... in case you wanted to know... and same for roos. Mostly only the pea combed roos will carry the blue/green egg gene.

Thought I'd take the plunge and post some pictures of our Original French Black Coppered Marans from Wade Jean Lineage C-1 bought from Mr. Jesse back in July 2009. I was on a wait list with him for like 10 months and so glad when I could get some!!!!I've been looking on this page long enough!

You must be mistaken on the date because it isn't even March of 09' yet? Very nice looking birds though. The eggs are looking nice as well. How much are you asking for a dozen?

Cheers
