Kathy has a really good question Jeff on whether the black copper offspring of a Blue Copper/Black Copper would be pure Black Copper and at first when I ran it in the calculator I thought the genotype of the offspring was the same but now I just noticed it is different from a straight Black Copper bird

The calculator only knows what you tell it to start with

The difference appears to be Mh.

My guess is that the make-up of the Blue Copper is Mh/Mh and would result in Mh/Mh Black Coppers.

The only difference between the black and blue coppers theoretically should be in the Blue Gene.


Then again, I may be wrong

I lost my best hen to impacted crop so only 3 girls laying at the moment

also there are some of my mixed breeds in the flock as well if you are wondering...
