OH no I got eggs from her last year also, but only got two chicks from that hatch. But hay one Hen and one roo was a good start...

Ok seem every1 is into the roo coloring on the black copper marans , but what is a good or great coloring on a blk copper hen

For a hen, you simply need a solid black with some good copper hackling on the neck. Not too much that it drapes down to the back, and certainly not anything like gold coloring, especially on the chest, or a completely black head and neck.

I do not have photos myself of a mature hen with proper coloring. (yet)

So I woke to one BHB chick and 2 more are piping and than 4 of my own BCM chicks... I hope to have a great day with hatching. What a way to spend Mothers day and to have both your boys at home too..
