Here is a pic of 4 of the new babies!

2 more are still in the bator drying and sadly the really weak one passed. I checked on her and noticed she was breathing really short, shallow breaths. So I picked her up, put her against my chest, covered her with a towel and held her for about 3 minutes. Then she took her last breath.

The hardest part is going to be saying good bye to all of these chicks since they are sold. It's bittersweet!

Awwww cute babies.
Well I still have a broody FBCM girl who wants to sit in that horrible hot coop and hatch out eggs. She has been in there a week sitting tight. I slipped some olive egger (Blue copper x blue Ameraucana) eggs under her as well. She kept pushing those out from under her, at first, I guess because they are blue lol. She finally has accepted them I think. The rest of the eggs are blue coppers and blk coppers. Heck if I know where the babies will go...I'm tired of building new coops!

gvntofly~ Way to go girl. They are so cute I just want to pick them up and give them lots of skqwooches!!! (skqwooches is the word our kids use at or house for hugs and cuddles)

geebs~

We should definitely get together some day and talk chicken!!!! We didn't really get the chance to visit much at that swap.....was that last year???

Here are the 3 girls that will be tested out in the breeding pen. The 1st gal pictured is not showing any signs of copper and I don't expect her too, which is not the way I wanted to go in the breeding program, but she definitely came from black copper and blue copper parents so I am going give her a try and see what she throws when crossed back to her dad my blue copper roo (I know I said that I wasn't going to do anymore blue x blue matings but I just have to see what will happen), I like her style and she gets along well with everyone. They are 4.5 months.

Here's a blue copper pullet who started out being a little stinker, her attitude has settled down and she is doing great. I had high hopes for the little splash behind her but her eyes are too dark. DARN IT!!!! Ohh and yes she has feathered shanks.

Sorry this photo is not a very good one of her but here is the 3rd gal that made the grade.

At what age do you give up on the eye color being correct? Could Miss Splash just be a late bloomer?? She's pretty too, and has those nicely feathered shanks.

Wow... nice eye on that last pic... WOW... As for the last swap.....I don't know when it was... but it was a while ago... I didnt' make the one last year...I honestly can't remember... ha ha... It was 2 summers ago anyway.... I think.... Love the pix... I like the first one's even hue... Such pretty birds. Looks like your project is rolling right along.. Thanks again for the fashion show... It makes the world go round. I wonder how many ppl have gotten "hooked" on the blues from your Pet parade... We will definetly have to get together and talk chicken...Is there an up and coming "thing"... I thought you were going to host? LMK... I will show...

Awww..Thanks Everyone! They sure are loads of fun!

Debbi~

It has been my experience that their eyes change right around this age. I'm not expecting them to change at this point...I noticed quite some weeks ago that they were too dark and held out hope for her and a couple of her sisters, but no such luck I'm afraid. She and her sisters will be joining one of the laying flocks.

gvntofly~
How are the kiddos?
