Pink~ The little ones are doing great! I have seen them all eating and drinking, so I called their new mama. She will be picking them up later today. I'm going to be sad to see them go but this lady has been in contact with me since March. I know they are going to a very good home!

Fave is doing great!! My friend has her... She never did grow cheeks though... Super great bird. My friend takes my layer pen overflow!!!! She has a huge acreage and I get to visit often.

I don't remember everyone who got birds from me... I sell quite a few in the spring to make my feed bill for the year. I hope they are doing great though. I only keep a token couple of the blue line (Davis) but I am best suited for the wades. I don't even hatch out of them less I get a request. Everyone should have a layer pen like this~~ Super darkies with great conformation. I did keep a couple till lay to prove the line. It is good....Just not my speed...You keep up the vigil on that and I will be a voyeaur through this forum. I have a couple secret projects that are going to take up some space!!!

Oh... I do remember.. I thought you meant someone who got birds from me at the "thing"... Nah those birds were Bev Davis line. I was Offing that line...... I showed her Wades but she wanted Davis.. Don't know why you didn't sell some to her... ha ha.. You being nieghbors and all.. I found out that later... How are the birds??? I got some from Greenfire and another breeder backeast... Just like the Wades better.... I still have just the couple of token birds. Cree's Bev line. Might have been a Cree bird she has... can't remember but it was either Greenfire or Cree depending... I have kept all the Cree Wades... love em.. Glad to hear she sent up the fiver.. ha ha... I will get a pic of Fave next time I am out there...

You do a better job with the Bev line blues than I would ever do... I love to look at them but the losses I took just soured me.. I think it is a "set up" thing... I am just not set up for the big Davis birds...It limits what I can handle... besides two of us in the same neck of the woods... Nah.. You keep up the vigil for both of us... I will content myself to watch your good work. I have to keep my Dad burned Davis birds locked up... They are such Renegades. My wades are practically house trained!!! I clap my hands and they go to their foraging spot... They simply train easy.. ha ha.. (I am a bit of a control freak I guess)... ha ha

Please help us sex this 6 week old BCM! We have 11 we hatched from CottageGarden and AHappyChick and are at a loss to tell boys/girls. Some that have combs also have girl-type tails and some that have no tails have combs. John thinks this is a girl because of the way her face looks. But she has a big comb- comparatively speaking.
Opinions?

I should add that s/he has just the faintest tinge of copper on her neck-- if you look closely in the right light. We have one several that are showing nice copper but I think they are males.

It is a hard call on some lines... Wait for saddle color.. then it is a boy. Combs and wattles don't always tell the tale.

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I figured I'd add pictures of my three marans
smile.png
They seem to be the breed that's caught my fancy. I have 5 other chickens, a banty roo, two buff orphington hens, a RIR hen, and a sexlink girly. I bought a variety to see if I'd prefer any breed over the other, but a month after I bought my original 5 I was at the feed store and seen the marans! I regret only buying 3, but oh well I definitely have time to expand my flock.

This boy has the most copper, and is my favorite. I'm pretty sure he's the biggest too.

This is my second roo, less copper and he's smaller but he's a bit sweeter then the other boy.

Then all three with the only hen I got. She was the only brown chick from the batch at the feed store, and I call her Sneaky. Cause she is very, very sneaky!

What really surprises me about the three, is that they're a full month younger then my first 5 chickens and they're all bigger already! They were hatched in May so that'd make them about 3 months now. I was actually worried when I brought them home, about putting freshly hatched stumbling chicks (they were still a little damp even) with my 4 week old chicks. But they immediately almost started bullying the other chicks! They've definitely had an attitude from the start!

Anyone in or around Central Texas looking to get rid of Wade Jean line roos? I would love to get one, maybe two from someone. I really dont feel like starting off with chicks again at this point. Not right now anyways. Send me a PM if you like.

Hi all! Would any of you be so kind to give me feedback on my roo? I have a few that I've been growing out but I like this one the best. He's just under 7# and is 6 mos old

Meet Pierre
