Thanks tfpets, you are so kind:hugs. Prices differ from type of marans breed and breeder. I am probably too low on mine, but this is for fun. I am beginning to put some real money into my flock(buying some of those more expensive eggs from more established breeders),so I may have to increase the price in the future. I think the price put on eggs is an individual decision and has alot to do with where you are in your breeding program. I sell mine by the dozen. Too be honest, any fewer would be a waste of money, what with shipping costs(the distance matters more than the weight),and the perils of hatching shipped eggs,I would not want to send fewer than a dozen.

okay guys, I been holding out. Well not really, my computer took a dump and I lost Photoshop and have not gone out to my friend's house to get it back.
One of my copper black marans girls started to lay!
The first egg was weird, felt like sandpaper and was light colored until I put it on the stove to boil. Then it turned dark and I showed it with the egg from the next day. COOL HUH?

Those are so pretty, and BIG! I cant wait til all of my Marans are laying! Your birds sure do lay really nice nice eggs! They are Prize winners for sure!

HERE IS MY CUCKOO MARANS PROJECT - August 25, 2008

I have separated my Cuckoo Marans (Valentine, Kelly Cratty, Iona McCormick lines) into a breeding pen for the first time, at a fellow BYCers request, to provide potential feather legged Cuckoo marans breeding stock. I am more than happy to send eggs for the cost of shipping while I can. Postage is currently $12.95 for the best Flat Rate box I have. I dont expect any payment over and above shipping. I am only doing this for fun, because I only sell my eggs at work for $2.00 a dozen, and I would rather ship them and have someone hatch them into babies!! This is a time limited offer, cause my Big Daddy Rooster wants to be FREE again! I only get 2-3 eggs a day, so requests will be limited, and I have two already, so let me know!

I will only be shipping the darkest eggs, not the light ones. They are too disappointing! They may be from my oldest hen, who may need to retire, or it was a fluke? I'll be keeping an eye on the situation.

I also have my Mille Fleur D'Uccle Pen now, it's going to be fun too! If you havent heard of Mr. Frizzy, go check out my Personal Pages, and read about his project!

Those are beautiful! So who laid them? Do you have 4 hens or 3? I can't wait to see a basket full of them!
