Personally, I wouldn't. They have different pattern genes -- one is a solid color, one is not -- so that could screw things up down the line. I am NOT anything like an expert on chicken color genetics, though! The black/blue/splash genes are very simple and easy to deal with, so it doesn't seem to do any serious damage to combine those birds.

I am a member, but don't post very often. I don't know what to do with him, he's just so pretty

I got some Wheaton eggs from Bev...only 2 hatched and they both died. But I just got some Wheatons in the mail from Buddy, so I'm hoping they hatch for me!

Darn, that's too bad! I'm kinda surprised. When I got wheaten/blue wheaten eggs from her, out of 13 that went into the bator 11 of em developed fully. They had some difficulty with hatching, but I got 6 healthy chicks out of it.

eta -- I forgot to mention -- those chicks are 3 1/2 weeks old now, and the first one started crowing this morning!

I wish I had your luck! Out of 12 eggs I got 2 chicks that both died. And the eggs weren't even shipped!

texasbartrambaby I can only see one of the Cuckoos in the pic. Looks like a Roo to me. Anyone else want to guess?

I'am sorry Kelly about the Bev eggs

Hope you have a great hatch with the Buddy Wheatens.

Sorry about that!

That makes me start to wonder -- what kinda incubator are you using? Humidity levels?

Good luck with your eggs from Buddy. I have three big Cottage Hill pullets, but they are all clean legged and real wimps. Even my bantam araucanas boss them around.

But they are nice BIG birds -- they're around 5 months old now, and they're already bigger than my Sussex and Welsummers. I can't wait to see what they lay!
