So you have six and possibly nine pullets, that's great! I would of been happy with one or two. At least from that I could have a chance of growing my flock next year.

My little roo is starting to crow, it is so cute. I had forgot how cute they sound.

Also I was able to put some other chicks that are about 10 days old under momma last night and I checked this morning and she has them all under her and talking away at them like crazy. So at least she is happy.

I'd like to say that I made this quilt, or that it's been in my family for generations... but the truth is, I bought it today at Walmart. It was made in China. It is actually very nice. Hehhhh... my cats will eventually ruin it with their claws however

I'd take just one hatching of the six and a roo at that.

It's the Roos that drew me to the breed and variety to begin with. I saw my first GCM Roo and went

I'm like you, walkswithdog, that the fantastic roos of this breed drew me more than the dark colored eggs did. Nothing more majestic than a BCM roo. I hatched 3 BCMs last weekend, and have been playing with many different wheaten marans over the last month. Almost none of my wheaten chicks appear the same as chicks, so I believe I have some inferior breeding chicks and some superior ones. I'll need help (from ya'll) when it's time to cull, trying to figure out who goes and who stays.
