Marans Thread for Posting Pics of Your Eggs, Chicks and Chickens

Okay, started a thread in incubating and hatching for our hatch festivus......invited everyone for a Marans Madness March Hatch Along!

Let's see how many peeps we can get to hatch along with us. This will be fun!

Do let us know the hatch date so we may set accordingly... I will set a few marans and BLRW's I have a classroom full of chickies due Monday.... I let a first grade class hatch some eggs and gave them the supplies so we will be giving a talk next week on chicken behaviour.... Anyone want marans leghorn cross... ha ha

(where I have been) It is OHSET season here and I am an instructor... and golf season for the high schoolers... (taxi service)... and this past weekend I was gone on the yacht celebrating 22 years with my DH...

About the Leghorn thing... The only roos I have are Marans and a Wyandotte... I could catch the marans... ha ha... I fertilized a hen for a class project... They needed to be able to candle... We shall see what becomes of it... I have one left from last year... Egg color..off white...just tinted like a silky... (Great layer though... good breakfast)

It's still coming across to you as the araucana? It should be a wheaten chick in an egg. If it's still the araucana, try hitting "refresh" in your browser.

I've got a house full of blue copper chicks this spring. Those are some fertile hens!

Giant egg update!

She is doing fine and back to her old egg sizes and color now.

I had to crack it open... and to my suprise, found another perfectly fully developed egg. The large egg had whites surrounding this other egg. I cracked the inside egg and it had the whites and yolk just like any other egg.

I am new to chickens and eggs, but this has to be amazing to anyone...

I have seen a couple of those over on the egg topic, but it is still simply amazing!
