Nope. It's pretty small, and if it is fertile, it's by my wellie roo, Moose. I don't have a BCM roo.

But I can tell you, I'm totally hooked on these dark eggs. They are just gorgeous. I got another one today too. Now just to get her in the nest box!

Pink......the BCM girl beat the Ameraucana's and she's 3 weeks younger than they are. I have another BCM that has not begun to lay yet.

Congrats FLgardengirl.

Several people did comment on those birds last year

and how quickly they did grow. They were very fast growing, healthy birds. The mature roosters are fairly large now with nice confirmation. Those birds came from Donna Gerhke. Her birds have very nice confirmation and size. They aren't too large for the standard but they are a good size

So its not just my birds? WHEW. I was worried, because my hatchery birds are so tiny and grew so abnormally slow and weird, and since I got these. . I've been SO impressed by the size of their parents and their own growth, but yours are just amazing.

For the eggs I'm hatching, I hear the Bev Davis ones grow really fast and big. . . I hope that is true.

Not abnormally fast, but a healthy fast.

I received 13 BCM from Green Fire Farms. The largest, which I believe are Bev's, are 3-4 times bigger than the smallest, of which I have three. I was told the smallest ones were likely from the Wade lineage. I don't know. I can't get Paul at Green Fire to respond to my e-mails concerning the size difference. Any insight would be appreciated.

My biggest chicks are the Braden/Kelly then the Davis the the Wade /Jeanne. Mine are not grown only 8 weeks for the oldest but if they are the same size when finished growing up...the biggest eggs were the Davis one too. I haven't kept records on egg weight or hatch weight but it looks like that is the way to go so I need to find a good scale to buy so I can keep those records....

Did I ask too much. I went to a poultry swap of sorts this morning. Dealers outnumbered buyers 6-1. I had one of the dealers ask my price on a nice 3 month old trio of cuckoo marans. I said $25, and he just walked off. Kind of rude I thought. I don't really feel bad though, I didn't take my birds down there to sell to someone else that was just going to resale them. But I was wondering what you guys thought. Is that too high for a nice young trio of marans.

Nope... underpriced if the quality is there.... I am asking 50 for mine... They produce real well. a hen should fetch 15 in any market... now add to the fact that it is rare and good quality the price goes up expotentially.

I have Black Coppers from both Davis and Jeanne lines and my Davis birds are larger than the Jeanne birds, but I love em both and plan to get more of each line.
