Thanks Wynette! I agree, I dont think it matters as long as peeps are working together on the breed towards one common goal. I should really keep myself versed and updated with the progression of the approval for acceptance, I am really not interested in showing at this time perhaps one day. Having tons of fun working and learning with them along side my peers and trying to get to the proposed standard.

I was planning on joining the MoAC.

Should I join them or the Marans Chicken Club USA?

Or both?

Ok...this is going to sound funny but it is true...I joined the MCC because it allows me a direct link to Ms. Bev and that all so important stuff she has tucked safely away in her head. I also find every contributing member and the knowledge they share just as valuable. I rarely post there but read every post as I have them emailed to me.

You can join both, so may as well!

In case peeps weren't aware, the latest update: We are going for the qualifying meet at the end of February at the Newnan show in GA for the black coppers and IL for the wheatens all being well at the end next year.

I've been lurking around on both sites trying to garner all the info I can. Both sites have a lot to offer. I like Pink's idea, great to have access to Bev! Put my 7 in lockdown last night about 7:15, and just a while ago, heard an inshell "peep"!

Surrendered to my ignorance and lack of building talent, not to mention my lack of brute strength! My builders came yesterday to scope out the spot I want a garage put. Been waiting on them for 4 months, they just now got done with other stuff. Showed them my coop. They were not very kind to me, but painfully honest. "Do you want your chickies crushed to death in the middle of the night??" Had to admit, that was my biggest nightmare, so I told him, "DO IT!!" They got done in 4 hours this morning what I had done in 3 weeks, and that was AFTER they tore down a lot of what I had built!

Coop will be done tomorrow, then onto the run. They have a little Amish man with them, and he is a chicken man. We swapped a lot of tips back and forth, and when I explained the exterior nestboxes, he had to admit that was a good idea. At least he was a gentleman, and said I gave it a "gallant try"!

I know when I'm licked!

Debbi - AWE! Sounds to me like you made a spot-on decision there! BEST of luck with your hatch! Can't wait to see how you do!!!

my favorite way to use this exact size use 2 box put together side buy side about 30 inches off the ground or however your hens like there box, screw it with 2 screws each box ....................and that way when a hen goes broody slide in a tray like pictured here

with the slid in tray thing a broody and chicks can go almost a week with ouh jumping out ... then i unscrew box ,,,hen chicks and all and set it on ground because they stack ok but made of 3/4 plywood painted ,,, im gunna try to sell a few at the next chicken stock... i sold all the wheaten marans hens i had i am happy to say
