March 2017! Hatch with us!

Here are the BCM eggs I had shipped to me they are in the incubator and will hopefully hatch on the 18th

I candled yesterday day 7. I was only able to see in the two lighter colored ones in the top of my picture . I was able to see air Chambers and veining in those two so I'm going to be using those as my guide. I have hatched a lot of chicks in the past but this is my first try with the dark chocolate brown beauties. Planning to just go with what worked in the past and hope for the best LOL

Yep! That's a great perspective! I found with the Marans eggs that day 14s candle is much easier because of the chick's movement.

So, after quite a bit of thought, I decided that I would rather raise 55 Flowery Hens than Swedish Flower Hens (jeepers, what is it with me, flowers, and chickens?!

) so, as soon as they hatch I'm going to try to sell the whole clutch (may be a small hatch, may be large - with shipped eggs it's hard to know!) locally - at least Northern Cali or Southern Oregon (we're about an hour and a half from Oregon). So, if you know anyone in those locations, feel free to spread the word. (I'd rather not use Craig List if I can help it.)

Hello. I would like to join this hatch-a-long. I've got 9 Swedish Flowers that I just put into lockdown tonight. I'm curious how you legbars progress as I won the next action after you and mine are on day 7. Most have saddle air cells but are developing well so far. They are on day 7 today. Both batches traveled to basically the same place as I am in Southern Oregon. I may also be interested in your SFH. I like her birds and need some new blood here. I actually bid on that auction too. Best of luck to everyone on hatching little fluff-butts.

Weeeeeellllll.....I set 40 eggs. 22 araucanas, 16 BCM, and I added 2 of my jersey giants to make it an even 40. I'm having a little trouble keeping the temp up in my bator though. Grrrrr. Fluctuating between 98- 99 degrees. I'll keep working on it. My cheapo Little Giant hasn't failed me yet!
