March 2017! Hatch with us!

Hello.  I would like to join this hatch-a-long.  I've got 9 Swedish Flowers that I just put into lockdown tonight.  I'm curious how you legbars progress as I won the next action after you and mine are on day 7.  Most have saddle air cells but are developing well so far.  They are on day 7 today.  Both batches traveled to basically the same place as I am in Southern Oregon.  I may also be interested in your SFH.  I like her birds and need some new blood here.  I actually bid on that auction too.  Best of luck to everyone on hatching little fluff-butts.

My Waldon legbars are due in 6 days. I just did my last candling of them yesterday. I was down from 21 to 12 after the first candle (mix of yolk scramble, a couple early quitters, and some possible fertility). I currently have 7 that look great and 5 with air sack issues. I'm running them with a tiny bit higher humidity than I normally use, sometimes this helps. I have another batch of legbars from Papa's Poultry here locally that are doing awesome, and are due in 13 days so hopefully between the two, I can get a good start with the breed.
I often make the trip to S. Oregon to visit my mom in Central Point, so if you're interested in the 'flowers' I may be able to deliver them!

Weeeeeellllll.....I set 40 eggs. 22 araucanas, 16 BCM, and I added 2 of my jersey giants to make it an even 40. I'm having a little trouble keeping the temp up in my bator though. Grrrrr. Fluctuating between 98- 99 degrees. I'll keep working on it. My cheapo Little Giant hasn't failed me yet!

Sounds like an awesome combination! :thumbsup Where did you get your araucanas?

70 eggs in. Tomorrow is day 20 and I should be expecting some pips hopefully. Lets get them OUT.

I don't know how you guys do so many at once. I'm raising out 40 cockerels I got for free and boy, it's a lot. Do you have a method for raising that many?

Great question! I'm curious about that too.
Also @Mylied, you got all 40 and know they're cockerels? How are you managing or planning to manage that many males together? How old are they now? Have you seen any issues? (aggression, fighting, food/water possessiveness etc). How many hens do you have?

My boys all go out to our converted horse trailer (we jokingly call is the meat wagon) and they have about a quarter acre run all to themselves. I will end up keeping a couple as breeders, but the rest grow out enough to be processed. In the meantime they have a great quality of life, so I don't feel bad when its 'time.'
Here's their digs:
