MARCH 2021 HATCH-A-LONG 🌷🌸🌼

Pics
I went and did it again, my only single hatch for 3/9, wasn't doing to well. She stopped eating & drinking and just standing looking like she was lost. I decided that I couldn't wait for the next ones to hatch. I went and got some st. Patty's day chicks to put in with her, minimum of 5. With in a few minutes she was checking them out, showed them the water and food and heat, then she started to eat as while. She is now acting like a little mother hen.

I have my first pip on day 20 !!
I am mad because I have to go to work. There is no way I can call out today. You can bet I am going to get my work done fast and leave early. This is very exciting as it is my first hatch and from my flock!!

😂 I worked a double yesterday so I’m off today and it’s day 19 here. I’ve been hawking on that incubator all day like madman. Pretty much daring an egg to move!

Totally forgot to hop on the March group! I’m hatching coturnix for a friend, and they’re a couple hours shy of day 12. I started with 26 eggs, and pulled 2 clears. Hoping the rest make it to lockdown.

So excited to see what colors I hatch! This is my first hatch from my covey. My friend wants sexed birds, so I’ll get to raise them to fully feathered. This incubation has gone so fast! It makes it even faster that lockdown is on day 14. Picture of day 5 candling.

I rushed home and found 2 more eggs pipped and the one from this morning was making progress. I hear chirping too. This is so exciting. I don’t know why I waited so long to finally hatch some eggs lol

So I am down to 9 eggs for lockdown. I think my humidity has been a bit high and the airsacks are not as big as they should be.. Has anyone stopped the egg turning and left the eggs in an upright position.. so when they break into the air cell they dont get flooded with fluid? Or lay them down with the air cell end pointing slightly up?
Anyone's thoughts would be much appreciated.
Could I run a dry incubator for a couple of days to help reduce some of the fluid inside the eggs? Then on day 20 get the humidity up high for hatch?

Nice! Those eggs look beautiful! Also, I see you are using the NR 360? I have one of those as well and use it for quail eggs. But I had some problems with the egg turner being to big. But I found someone on Etsy who 3D prints quail egg sized turners for it! Mine just arrived a few days ago. Here is the link in case you wanted one:

I saw the quail turner! I was lazy and haven’t replaced my wafer in my hovabator, otherwise I’d be incubating in there. A couple slots in the 360 have 2 eggs, and I haven’t had any issues as of yet. If I do quail in the 360 again, I will probably invest in the quail turner.
