I'm with you! I have 12 eggs...11 full Freedom Ranger, and one FR roo X Rhode Island Red OR Buff Orp (can't tell their eggs apart). I candled last night and all looks well. This is my first hatch! I also have a broody in the coop and will give her some of the eggs on Day 18.

yes we are incubating eggs in my 2nd grade classroom, we have a brinsea octagon advance
12 eggs in there, not sure what kind, they were donated by a local farmer with 3 different hens and one rooster,
so far we have canlded a few different times, (the kids love looking) all look great with veining and movement (1 still not sure) - we can't really see inside it is so dark
lockdown on Sunday (we set early on the 9th)
Good luck you all
so exciting but nerve wracking too...

We have 27 eggs in a Hova Bator. This is in my 7th / 8th grade classroom. We candled and took out the non fertile ones (6). Since this is my first time, lockdown is on Sunday right? We are all so excited. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Denise

Is everyone ready for lockdown 2moro?
What position are you all hatching your eggs in?

So did you all start your incubators on March 9? And tomorrow (Sunday) is counted as Day 18? I just want to make sure!!

What positions can you put them in? I thought they should just lay on their sides on the mesh incubator floor. I am giving 6 to my broody and keeping 6 in the incubator.

Yes, I set eggs on March 9th. I think lockdown is tomorrow,, I was planning on starting lockdown tomorrow morning.
to do this:
raising humidity to 65%
take off the egg turner and hoping that everything works.....
and we have a few chicks hatch on Wendesday.
Does that sound right?????

Yep, this will be my fourth hatch total, but my first in three or four years, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm going to turn normal tomorrow, candle at night, and get the humidity up and sit on my hands for the next three days. I can't wait!

We had a lightening strick take out electricity at our school right at the end of the day Friday. Took my eggs home and glad I did because the electricity did not come back on for 4 hours.
Ok, going into lock and very nervous!

I guess you just lay the eggs down???

OK - I will do a little research then go into lockdown.

Yikes, didn't think I would be so worried! This is my first time with an incubator.

Thanks, will let you guys know how it goes!

Denise
