An update for HappyhensNY: Out of the nine porcelain d'uccle eggs that I set on Saturday 7 have started developing!

One arrived with a hair line crack that I tried sealing with wax....no surprise there that it didn't start......and one had a badly scrambled air cell.

IF these 7 make it to hatch I will consider myself blessed indeed!

Thanks for the opportunity to try hatching out some of your daughter's birds!

Im sorry that the eggs were broken to those that I sent eggs. I was told by my Post Master that if I didn't write on the box hatching eggs I could get in trouble. So I'm dammed if I do and Dammed if I don't... I've never had this problem before where they got dropped kicked. I don't know what to do. My post office can't ship them out like the use to or the eggs get lost and then found 10 days later.. So now they ship the packages along with other packages...

Seems to me it doesn't matter if I mark just Fragile either or Do NOT X-RAY the eggs get lost or broken.. Sorry that the eggs got broken...

I guess I wont be sending out anymore Hatching eggs until the Post Office knows what they are doing............. I didn't mean for them to get broken...

I sent out 2 boxes as well that had broken eggs. Not sure what is going on. I wrap each egg in bubble wrap, then wrap all the eggs together in newspaper to keep them from bouncing around, then put big bubble wrap all around that. Seems something is going on with clumsy Postal People.

If people have had issues with broken eggs it may be a kinder idea to PM the sender with the issue and some constructive ideas to ship more securely and not say "due to poor packing" in a public thread. The sender may have done the best job they knew how.

I did. The box looked like they played football with it. There were 3/12 broken. I PM'd her and thanked her for the extras. She has been ill this week, that may be part of the emotions going on here.

on a happy note I got a purfect dozen eggs from chickgrowerdan!!!!!!! thanks so much.... i think the extra taped not on it helped

I got pkgs from MR Heinz today and one from ebay.

all arrived safely though the PO took its toll on the out side of the boxes. one looked like they sat on it!

but here they are.... i have 39 + 24 = 63 and i am still waiting on a box i think the po must be wanting for themselves grr.



oh and i got a new arrival this after noon.... looks to be a black Jap bantam from the blue/black pen
