I just loaded four 1/4 Silver-laced Wayandotte 3/4 Polish/Sizzle/Unknown mix chicken eggs in the incubator this morning! :celebrate I am starting a breeding project! They are due March 5th!

Ok lol so my ameraucana hasn't been laying recently she just laid one & I decided to pop into the incubator just for the fun of it & see what happens! If it's fertile then the chick will be half ameraucana 1/4 silver-laced Wyandotte 1/4 polish/sizzle/unknown mix!

What's your project, if I may ask? :)

You definitely may! I am trying to breed the perfect chicken! Obviously it would be perfect by my standards since I can't please the whole world LOL! Ok so I had a pure bred silver-laced wyandotte rooster named Peep he was the best rooster I've ever had I loved him to death too.He passed but just before he had i bred him with one of my very beautiful hens Wilda a polish/sizzle/unknown mix i hatched 3 eggs all ended up roosters one died saving his hens the other two I still have & are my only roosters one (Dello) is very aggressive though like his father had been which I knew could happen when breeding him.Heliotrope my other Roo on the other hand is quite docile like his mother.Overall Heliotrope got the best genes out of the three.Which is funny because he hatched first! So I crossed Heliotrope back with his mom since I want the chicke to be crested & feather legged so far Heliotrope has the feathered feet now I want a replica of him with a crest that it what I'm reaching for right now I am adding other variables later. If you want to see my flock go to the search bar & look up Poults Flock Of Never Ending Coexistence I can't post a link at the moment my computer isn't happy with me

My Khaki Campbell duck eggs are looking awesome. They are wiggling around and growing great.

Poult made a good point, everyone's idea of a perfect chicken is different.

What are all your guys' idea of the perfect chicken?
Mine is just the old boring big dual purpose that grows fast and lays eggs well. Some people maybe want that big flashy show winner that will get them noticed.

What are you guys wanting in the "perfect chicken"?

I really love all chickens but feather legged & crested & muffed birds really win the token! They have to still be hardy around the barnyard though!

Poult- sounds like a fun project, I'm glad you were able to hatch some eggs from your rooster :)
I have a thing for feather legged, bearded/muffed crested chickens too, hence my Silkies. Love them. But, I really think all chickens are perfect too. I'd have a hard time picking a favorite breed :D

To me, the perfect chicken is one that matures fast, is a good duel purpose bird, lays well, is docile and hardy, and does not need to be wormed.
