March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

Half way point and 19 out of the original 27 are going strong - better than I'd expected on shipped eggs in the winter!

my temps go up and down with my humidity. and when I add more water my temps drop... I'm trying a dry hatch....which really isn't dry, just lower humidity... it's working so far....except that i haven't candled yet. so I really DON'T know the out come. IDK...

Melinda when you say dry hatch - what humidity % are you talking?

Well i couldnt wait - i candled - remember this is my first attempt at all of this -had a couple very porous eggs that started leaking yellow yolk like stuff - didnt smell - took them out nothing - cracked open - nothing. BUT i then candled my Japanese eggs - i almsot dropped the first one SPIDER WEBS - just like all the pics i have seen - had a grin on my face for hours! It seems so real now! WOOHOO!

I mean who knew that i would be like a school kid seeing a growing embry in an egg! LOL - Its also that this is my first hatch and it has been very hands on so to speak as i am hand turning and not using the best bator - so to know my efforts are not to waste!

I was pretty excited as well when I saw the chicks move around. In the past I didnt know what I was doing but there are a lot of excellent resources on here that have helped me along the way.

Amen to that! I think I would have given up this chicken venture a long time ago if it wasn't for the massive good information and great people here on BYC.

I TOTALLY second that thought!!!!!

Well I candled today on day 4 for me, and I have 19 out of 44 that are definitely developing, I could see veining. Most of the other 25 seem to be clear, but these are Ameraucana eggs and several are to porous and/or dark to tell. I will try them again in a few more days. Those numbers are not surprising for shipped eggs, but I hope a few more turn out to be developing. Since I had only purchased 18, I guess at this point I have only lost the extras, so I haven't lost anything yet. I hope everyone else is having good luck. Lisa
