March Hatch-A-Long.( How is it gettting here so quick ? LOL )

Humidity is at 20? That's way too low. Should be around 60 to 65. You may want to mist your eggs..so the shells will soften for them. :) Maybe you put 20 instead of say..60 accidentally?

Was in the 20s pre-lockdown, bumped it into the 60's for lockdown and it's now in the 70s with some pips.

3 pips so far - 2 BCMs and 1 Olive Egger... out of ~ 30.

And I've discovered my 1st real flaw with my "cooler-bator" - I went with a single pane of thick glass for the viewing window rather than the double plexi I used on my smaller cooler and when humidity gets north of 50% it fogs up completely.

I had even added LED viewing lights on this build so I could watch everything.... but looks like I'll be blind to the progress for a while.

Went into lock down about 10 mins ago, I had one egg rock so hard this morning I thought it was going to bounce right out of the turner. I candled the last time and everything looked good. Now if I could only sleep for the next two days, so I don't think about them hatching, I would be good....

Still have Olive, blue, and green eggs with a lot of browns. One of my Olive eggs was the wiggly one this morning.

One little lonely NN. At least I have two in there that a week older, and they are getting along fine. The baby thinks they are mama, or siblings, but like them for warmth and co.

anything hatching yet??

Day 19 here. I hate waiting. I don't expect them very early though. When I candled just before lockdown they looked good and there were a few who looked ready to pop (I could see them pushing into the membrane at the air sac and it looked like they were trying to internally pip). Lots of movement just before lockdown. Got humidity holding steady at 65. Temp has been a rock solid 99.5 the whole time, but today rose to 100, which makes me think there is a lot of little baby chickie body heat in there. Nothing else in that room has changed. Now I just wait.

So sad! With the busy schedules I wasn't home for hatch day for the quail. Had the humidity at 55% when I left in the morning, with one chick zipping and a lot of rocking. By this morning, only 4 were out and not much moving or nearly as much peeping, humidity had dropped to just under 40%. Had 5 chicks hit blood vessels, some late quitters, the rest look like they shrink wrapped

. Have 4 littles running around though, guess I should be happy for that, will have to try again I suppose. Anyone have any tips for doing quail eggs when I do try again in a few weeks (have OE eggs on the way for the Easter hatch a long)? These are Cortunix if that matters....
