March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

We have 5 of 8 pipped! The mystery eggs are chicken, I just don't know what breed ANY of them are.

I'm not sure I understand?...the chick will internally pip generally around day 21 (some earlier, some later depending on overall temps throughout incubation) and then will pip a hole through the shell usually within the next 24 hrs. Once it's pipped through the shell, it will usually zip anywhere from 12 to 24 hrs later...these are general time frames though...some chicks seem to want to defy "the usual".

Did that answer your question or did you mean something else? Sorry...my brain is set on duuuuhhh this afternoon!

At what time do the chicks inside the egg break through the air sack before hatching?
Usually day 20-21. After they internally pip there is a period of time when they are switching over to breathing air instead of fluid. There are neurological processes that go on that cause the chick to twitch and the twitching results in the external pip.

Mine were SUPPOSED to have hatched tomorrow, but I had the temp a little high and one actually pipped on day 19!
Has anyone tried to hatch eggs as early as possible with high temps, say day 18 or so? I would think that would be bad for them, but is it possible?
