March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

I'm worried that I'm not turning my eggs good enough... Since I have 9 in there, I have been putting a towel on one side of the BMA and then switching it back and forth. The eggs move, but some hardly move at all. If they don't receive sufficient turning, what can happen to them?

I got 13 babies, chilling in the bator. Im starting to teach them to drink, but I'm not seeing them eat to much. The majority hatched yesterday morning and day. So when do they start picking up with eating /drinking? I know they can go 3 days but I want to make sure they are eating/drinking good before I leave tomorrow.

The babies are doing really well...happy little peeps!!

Can you instead move the towel in a clockwise fashion rather than back and forth?

Not enough turning can lead to chicks stuck to the shell and chicks in the wrong position at hatch.

That sounds like they are too cold under the ecoglow. I use an ecoglow 50 and they never pile on top of eachother for any reason :\. I do not use loose bedding until they are around a week old. I start them off on potty pads for dogs.
I start all of mine off on paper towels for the first few days. And I have chipmunk heads!

Does anyone know what breed this chick is?

I used to use a box that was about 3 " high and move it from under one side of the bator to the other and never had any problems. The key is to have it at a 45 degree angle. If you think about a cabinet incubator the shelves rotate from side to side. At it's farthest height it is a 45 degree angle.

Looks like an ee. I had several ee 's hatch. But only one looks like an ee. I'm so excited to see what they will look. Ive got several yellow, brown and black. Such cute babies.
Hmmm, I don't think it is an EE because it doesn't have gray feet and I don't see a beard on the little chicky! There are a couple breeds that start out looking like that, keep posting updated pictures for us to see!!
