March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

I think it would be a bit risky if the hen has only been broody for a short time. She might be confused at getting chicks so soon after going broody.
But she might accept them. Maybe others will have an opinion on it..
Thanks LONDON HENS im worried about that very thing happpening.

Got 17 out of 23 to hatch had 6 late quitters most of them was from my game hen who was covered by my EE roo. Sold 12 and kept 5! :) got more babies due for lock down again tomorrow!! And stupid me put more eggs in!!!! I forgot to check my incubation calender before setting. They've already been in for a little over 3 hours. Ugh. Do you guys think they'll be ok to be locked down for a few days?? I don't keep my humidity that high the highest it got was 75% on my last lock down.

Brook, I had to throw out 6 of the BR eggs last night.

I knew it. They quit. I had thrown a clear on out sooner. So 7 are gone. Those saddle air sacs are just bad news. I am crossing fingers for three that look good and are moving around. I am not quite sure about the other one. Keeping it until I know for sure. I still may get a couple.

I really hate the PO. I sure hope you get something. They are really cute chicks.

Starting day 18 of my hatch of genetic hackle eggs from KEN (aka- FLYFISHER). Removed the egg turner and increased the humidity to 65%.Have several phoenix eggs in this batch which are starting to make noises already, they were always early birds every time I have hatched them. Wish me luck, my phoenixs from the last two hatches have sold already .There is nothing like hatched in Maine during another snow storm..

I think your higer humidity for the next few days won't be a problem. The only reason you don't want too high humidity during incubation is so the moisture can leave the egg. At this point... that moisture ins't going to cause the embryo to drown. Once these hatch, you can lower your humidity and start to let the air cells to get bigger and compensate for the first few days. You have plenty of time to get big enough air cells in them before they're due to hatch. IMO. Good luck! Hope you have more great hatches.
